Autumn Salmon Fishing

Most of our visiting Salmon anglers do so when the season turns towards the autumn. The river needs a good head of water flowing down its length to stimulate the Salmon to migrate upstream. Often when the flow is low Salmon will hang around in the estuary waters waiting for the river level to rise. From the middle of August the extra rainfall will encourage the fish to run and throughout September and into October chances are good The ideal time to visit and fish for Salmon is when the river has reached above 2 metres and is dropping.
